A LoPair au pair in China you are always regarded a part of the family and the host will include you in their family activities. As a “family member” you will learn to share responsibilities and contribute to make life in the family easier with less hassle.
Therefore on top of providing care to the host siblings, you are always welcome to provide a helping hand in the times where families need, although generally you are not responsible for housework that does not relate to the children’s or communal living areas. But we encourage that you could help your host parents do some cooking or some easy housework.

Dear Au pair:
Welcome to China! Welcome to Shanghai! And most importantly, welcome to our family!
There are three in our family, host father, a daughter and me. Host father is in the business of design and construction and hence goes on business trips a lot. For most of time, I stay at home with my daughter, which makes me a stay at home mom. I enjoy making my home beautiful and comfortable. My daughter is 6 years old who is a senior student in kindergarten now. She is docile, outgoing, kind and polite.
Though our home is not very big, it’s quite lively. My daughter attends an international school with English as the teaching language. Pitifully, we don’t speak much English, that’s why we want you to become a part of our family helping us with English and in return learning from us.
We are looking forward to your arrival!
Yours,
Mrs. Yang
